Hi Tony!
Most people don’t even take the time to tell a person how to reach their goal. I want to thank you for everything and for responding to my messages. Sometimes I just test people to see if they really care about my career and you do. You can continue to send me some tips on how I can accomplish my goals, because you inspire me a lot. Thank you for caring.

Accent Reduction

A Must-Do For Foreign Actors Who Want To Start Acting In The USA!

Accent Reduction &
Dialect Coaching

Many actors who were born and raised in countries outside of the United States of America and who have the dream of coming to Hollywood to fulfill their dreams of acting there, have a huge barrier to overcome. They must not only be good actors to be able to compete, but they must also be able to speak good, accent-free English. There are classes, schools and coaches who can help with that. This pages lists some of them. Remember though that speaking good English is important, but your acting skill is more important!

The order of importance is:

  1. Being able to act. Having good acting skills. You need to be able to communicate first and foremost through your acting skills.
  2. Speaking good English, even if you have an accent. You should be able to speak extremely well, have a vast vocabulary, good pronunciation and good English grammar. You also need to be able to read English very well for acting auditions and also you need to be able to read scripts.
  3. Comprehension is also important. You also need to be able to understand when casting directors give you direction and you need to adjust quickly. You will also need to understand stage directions or indications from the director when on set.
  4. Lastly, but also very important is your accent. If all the other three things I mentioned here above are not in place, then whether you have an accent or not really doesn’t matter, because you probably won't get chosen for acting work.

Below you will find some places that can help you with accent reduction. First of all, since I'm not able to help you much with accents, I have been doing some research to look for someone who can. The best one I found by far is this excellent 16-hour audio course on accent reduction that you can do from home to help you work on your accent before you come to the United States.

Here are some other sites to check out:

Come to the USA and study acting. or to work as an actor. But if you need it, start working on your accent now and don't wait til it's too late. It will take time to perfect your English.
