Dear Tony,
Just a short hello to say that I have been reading your weekly site and wanted to let you know that I recently enrolled in an acting school in Arizona and found a way to pay for it by letting go of the want's and the not need's. Thank's so much for your insight into a common dilemma that is faced by actor's just starting out and for your most practical and common sense approach to acting.

What were your goals for your acting career start this time last year? Did they have to do with: |
If you are not making progress in your acting career as fast as you want, you might want to ask yourself a few questions.
If you watch this 6 minute video, I will help you to start to figure out what to do next.
Did you accomplish your acting career start up goals? Did you get what you wanted? Are you where you want to be in your acting career?
If so, great! Keep going! I hope you have set new goals for yourself and that you don’t need any help.
If you didn’t reach your goals and still haven’t done the things you want to do in your acting career, the question is: What are you doing about it?
You have two choices now.
1. Keep doing what you have been doing to try and get what you want, even though what you are doing isn’t working. OR
2. Try something different, like taking the time to do what is NECESSARY to have a successful start to your acting career.
Think about this. If you have been trying for a long time to get an agent or get some acting work and what you are trying isn’t working, then why on earth would you continue to do it? YOU MUST TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT! But what?
If you are not where you want to be in this phase of your acting career start up, then maybe, just maybe you are making some of the most common mistakes that many, many other aspiring actors are making. Maybe you need to see this video: Top 10 Reasons Why Most Aspiring Actors Never Make It! You might be making some of the same mistakes! You don’t have to you know.
Do What Is Necessary To Build Your Career The Right Way.
Surfing the internet looking for someone to get you in touch with a casting director or agent and continuing to do that even though it isn’t working is just one of the fatal mistakes that new and aspiring actors make and that keeps them from ever being successful. Don’t fall into that trap!
Do the right things and do the right things right and you will dramatically increase your chances for success! Success of course means getting work as an actor. ActingCareerStartup.com and my book Acting Career Start-Up are both about doing the right things and doing them right to be successful.
3 Acting Career Start Quotes
Before I send you on your way to explore this website, sign up for my monthly newsletter and look for the information here on the site that you need to start getting acting work, I would like to leave you with three quotes. Two of them are from one of my acting teachers and one is from Abraham Lincoln.
I interviewed Hollywood acting coach Bernard Hiller about what it takes to start an acting career in Los Angeles. In that interview he had two great quotes:
1. He said: “You should tell people that the express elevator to Hollywood acting success is broken. From now on you have to take the stairs.”
2. He also said: “If you let anything at all stop you from becoming an actor, then that probably means, it wasn’t for you.”
I often answer questions from new and aspiring actors who believe that the very first step in their acting career start is to get an agent. What they don’t realize is, that if you want to have a successful, long-term career in acting, then that cannot be the first step.
3. That’s why I love this quote from Abraham Lincoln who said: “If I had 3 hours to chop down a tree, I would use the first hour to sharpen the axe.”
Sharpen YOUR acting career axe! If you don’t sharpen it now by training, taking acting classes, studying the industry and learning the RIGHT WAYS to do things, there will come a time when you will have to stop and sharpen it, so you might as well do it now at the start.
Good luck and make sure you stay in touch with us here at ActingCareerStartUp.com. We want you to succeed!

What you’re doing is great Anthony.
