What are they? Forums for actors attended by acting industry professionals are intended to give performers an insight into what casting directors, agents and managers are looking for in auditions and in the actors that they sign. Whom the forum is run by will dictate the content of what is discussed,but examples of subjects talked about are things like how to make yourself stand out from the crowd, what needs to go on your professional actor resume, how to write an acting cover letter or how to choose the right headshot for yourself. They will often also go into common mistakes the actors they see frequently make. |

If you are looking to break into the market these kinds of acting workshops and forums for actors can be invaluable. Hearing about other people’s experiences in the industry and hearing about the kinds of mistakes that they made or saw others make will eventually save you so much time, as you wont have to make the mistake yourself and find out the hard way! The forums that you attend where the host interacts with the attendees on a more one on one level will give you personalized information which you may not be able to get anywhere else. Above all of this, these people that hold these forums know exactly what the industry standards at that very moment, and will take all of the guess work out of your approach to your next audition or meeting with a potential agent.
Aside from these practical gains, these talks can be a great place to network with other people in the industry and can teach you a lot in a really short period of time. You should check online and with your trade papers to see when the next session is starting in your local area. Go with an open mind and see what you can get out of it!

Whenever I read the things on your site, the interviews and even your book, I feel like if only everybody got to read this before they got started, they would be so much better off and everybody else (casting directors, agents, directors, etc.) would be so much better off too.
