Thank's so much for your insight into a common dilemma that is faced by actor's just starting out and for your most practical and common sense approach to acting.

I entertain questions every single day about how to start an acting career. There is one thing you should know, however, it will take time.
On this page you will find some helpful tips and guides with regard to what you will need to do.
What’s your approach to your acting career?
You can have a short term strategy, which has you going from saying, “I want to be an actress-actor.” to saying, “Where can I find acting auditions?” and, “How can I get an agent?” What you’re really saying is, “I’m going to try it, even though I have no training and no skill (maybe because my family and friends tell me that I have what it takes, that I should be an actress, that I make people laugh, etc. ) and see what happens!” The reality is that between wanting to be an actress and getting an agent or auditioning is a huge step that is being missed here. It has to do with a minor detail, which is learning how to act.
Or you can say, “I want to be an actress-actor. Where can I find out what it’s really like? Where can I get more information about it? Where can I find out what kind of classes to take and where to find them? After that first declaration of the desire to pursue acting, this is a much more intelligent series of questions, coming from someone who is humble and realistic enough to realize that an acting career, just like anything else must be built from the ground up in order to have a real chance at long-term success. This approach would then be the grounds for a long-term strategy.
Here below you will find links to pages that will really help you to learn how to start an acting career and build it from the ground up.
Step 1: Starting an acting career: Guide to figuring out exactly what you want out of your career.
Step 2: Guide to self-analysis/Getting to know yourself better.
Step 3: Guide to setting your long-term acting-career goals.
Step 4: Guide to setting your short-term acting career goals.
Step 5: Study these 23 benefits of taking acting classes.
Step 6: Guide to choosing the right acting school.
Step 7: Everything you need to know about how to find work as an actor at the beginning of your career.
Once you go through that process, you should be well on your way to getting off to a solid start in your acting career.

What you’re doing is great Anthony. Whenever I read the things on your site, the interviews and even your book, I feel like if only everybody got to read this before they got started, they would be so much better off and everybody else (casting directors, agents, directors, etc.) would be so much better off too.

Hi Tony
I would like to thank you for helping me with the monologue question I asked you. I went to the auditions for a Drama course and I am happy to say that I have been accepted as a first-year student at the Tshwane University of Technology.
Please keep on sending me those newsletters and let me know where I can find books that will help me in my acting career.
Thank you once more.
Have a blessed day.
