Canadian Actor Unions
ACTRA (Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists) is a national organization of more than 21,000 professional performers working in the English-language recorded media. ACTRA artists work in feature films, TV, radio, digital media, corporate videos and commercials as dramatic actors, comedians, dancers, background performers, voice over specialists, singers, puppeteers and stunt performers.
ACTRA stands to protect and promote the rights of Canadian performers through collective bargaining (for minimum fees, terms and working conditions), insurance and retirement benefits, performer’s rights, political action, alliances and also through offering a number of incentive programs for lower-budget Canadian productions.
How to Join
Membership in ACTRA is open to any performer who has enrolled in the Apprentice Membership Program and has attained six professional engagements under ACTRA jurisdiction sister organization. There are also exceptional circumstance by which a performer can qualify, you should check the ACTRA website to see what the details of these are.
