Disney casting calls

Attending Disney casting calls can be a fairly instantaneous way for an unknown actor to become a working actor on a popular TV show or in the latest big Disney movie. However quick it may come though, it is a good idea to start doing your homework now so that when that casting call comes you are ready and have a higher chance of getting through the audition and successfully booking yourself a Disney gig. Without an agent it can be a little more difficult to find out all the inside information but there are a lot of online resources that can help you stay on your game. You should make a habit of checking your favorite listings every week so when something comes up that you know you will be perfect for, you are ready to go. In the meantime here are some things you can do that will get you ahead of your competition when going up for Disney casting calls.

1. Get professional actor headshots taken of yourself. Hire someone to do this for you as they know how to capture a great shot of you that will really express your character as well as making you look great
2. Have your resume up-to-date and professional looking, include any training you have done and any experience you have in TV, film, stage, singing or dancing as well as any other special skills that you my have
3. While it is true that sometimes casting directors don't necessarily expect young aspiring actors they see for Disney casting calls to have acting training, my advice would be to take acting classes no matter what your discipline is; singing, acting or dancing. You are only going to get better and better through training. You also have to realize that your competition is going to be really good. They might even have natural talent, but that doesn't mean that your natural talent (if you have it) will be as good as theirs). Being in training is a great way to make sure you are up to (and stay at) current industry standards and can even be a great place to network as you will be studying with other aspiring artists just like yourself. If you choose wisely your teacher, that person will be a wealth of information and will really help you address your weaknesses and build on your strengths as well as give you invaluable, straightforward advice about your career.
4. This teacher may also be able to help you choose some monologues that you can work on and have at a performance-ready level. This is so that when you go to a casting call, and a casting director asks you if you can show them anything else you already have at least one monologue (two of contrasting styles would be best) to show them that displays the best of your skill set. You may not get to the point where you are asked to perform your monologues every time but even if you are only asked once, having something all ready to go could very well be the difference between getting hired or not.
