Hi Tony!
Most people don’t even take the time to tell a person how to reach their goal. I want to thank you for everything and for responding to my messages. Sometimes I just test people to see if they really care about my career and you do. You can continue to send me some tips on how I can accomplish my goals, because you inspire me a lot. Thank you for caring.

Question about Film School

Question about film school in California from a young aspiring actress in Jamaica; Hi Tony, I'm 18 years old and am thinking about going to film school in California. I'm saving up my money and I really want to go. Will attending a flim school open doors for me or make it easier for me to get a acting job? How can I move forward in my acting career? Any advice you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

ANSWER: You could go to that school in Californial, but that won't guarantee that you will start working as an actor. This is the part so many people don't understand. It's not just about learning how to act. It's about learning the acting business, how it works and how you can get agents, acting auditions and acting work for yourself over and over again. If you don't know how to do that, you can be the best actress in the world, but no one will see your work, because you don't know how to get yourself seen. It's that simple. I've seen mediocre actors get more work than some really good actors. Why? Because they know how to play the game!

Right now, before you come to the US for a film school, if I were you, I would start learning the ropes of the acting business in California and in the USA. That's what my acting career quick start home-study course is all about. Whether you do it with me or with someone else, you NEED to get that information. If you don't, you will have spent all that money to go to California to the film school and then when it's finished what will you do?

Do you think that just going to film school in Hollywood is enough? Do you think that you will have met some people who will introduce you to some agent? Please don't think that, because it's not that simple. There are tens of thousands of aspiring actors who go to Hollywood each and every year and then end up getting other acting jobs, because their acting dream didn't come true. What they didn't realize is that THEY have to make it come true. You can only do that if you know HOW to make your dream come true and I can tell you that it's not just by being there. It's not about who you know, but who WANTS to know you. Hollywood is like the Olympics of acting. If you are not ready to compete at that level then you need to prepare yourself before you go.

Learn the business. Go to this page on my other website where I advertise the home-study course and look at the videos and scroll down the page and see the list of all the information that is in the course. Whether you want to take my course or not, YOU NEED THAT INFORMATION if you want to hope to be successful and that's not all. YOU NEED TO APPLY that information and do the work. If you are not willing to spend $37 per month over the next six months and DO all the work that's in the course, then my advice is, don't spend your hard-earned money to go to the film school. Do something else with that money.

Sounds harsh what I’m saying, but I don’t want you to waste your time and money. Or put in a more positive way, I want you to get the most out of that experience. You can do that by learning the acting BUSINESS first and then going to the film school in California.
