Anthony,
Happy New year to you. I really enjoy your e-mails and your website. As someone who has just started the journey of becoming an actor I enjoy your site which is full of wonderful insights and answers to questions I have had, and it's funny but it seems as though every time you update your site, it answers a question I have been struggling with at that point.
Thank you for your website, you have helped me a lot as I know you have helped numerous others.
Have a wonderful 2008 and may you break a leg in everything you do this year as an actor.

How to make money to fund your acting career? Many new actors of all ages have asked me this question. Below you will find the answer I gave to a teenager just a few weeks ago.
Stop thinking that the only way to make money is to get “a job”. Think outside of the box like working actress Amy Russ did.
If that kind of thinking is not getting you the amount of money you need, then you must change the way you think. If you want different results, you must start to think and do things in a different way, otherwise you’ll just keep getting the same results.
So, so, so many, many, many actors have the same issue: Money! And not just when they are young like you. Many actors fail to realize that before throwing themselves at a career in which it is likely that they will not earn a large income at the beginning at least, that it is essential to get your finances in order first. It is important to create an income stream that will allow you to be flexible and to be able to concentrate on your craft, take classes when you want, get those new headshots when you want, get the reel or demo made or make any other investments in your career you need to make without having to worry about money.
Great! So What Can You Do?
The following links will give you some specific information and things to think about with regard to your issue of money. I hope you will be stimulated to think about some possibilities and options that you might be able to execute and more importantly, to take action!
The cost of starting an acting career.
Here's my budget when I first went to New York to study acting three years ago.
Do you know where your money goes?
Here are some ideas to make money that you might not have thought about.
Here are some ideas if you want to go the traditional route and still stay connected to the industry and learn while you work to make money.
This for me, is the best way to work! (Listen to my 7 minute audio and then sign up for a free 7-day e-course.)
Now The Question Back To You!
So since you asked a question about how to make money (Well, you did find your way to this page didn't you?) and I answered it, I will leave you with another one: How many different ways are there for you to solve your money issue? I'll give you to answer to this one too. There are an infinite number of ways for you to get the money you need to fund your career. Working for someone in a 9-5 job is an antiquated concept. Be creative!
With regard to how to make money, stay away from solutions that will take you down the wrong road and solutions that will get you in trouble. They are not necessary and I would not advise you to seek them out or consider them. Stay away from solutions that will compromise you in anyway. Stay true to you yourself.
Opt for positive, legal solutions and seek help to find answers. There are solutions. You just have to think hard enough, find good people who have overcome such issues and challenges. Find out how they did it. Find the right people. Ask your parents to help you, not just with money, but to give you constructive advice to help you find a solution. That will help you grow and it will set you up to be able to find creative solutions when you are on your own. And don't give up until you get that money! Whether you do give up or not will reflect your true desire to become an actor. If it doesn't work out in the short term, if you stay committed to what you want, it will eventually work out.

Good luck to you! So now, one more question:
Now what are you going to do?
p.s. Those who believe they can and
those who believe they can't are both right.

Hi Tony
I would like to thank you for helping me with the monologue question I asked in October 2007. I went to the auditions for a Drama course and I am happy to say that I have been accepted as a first-year student at the Tshwane University of Technology.
Please keep on sending me those newsletters and let me know where I can find books that will help me in my acting career.
Thank you once more.
Have a blessed day.
Sincerely

Hey Tony, thanks for the info, yours by far is the most useful, I am 30 years old, and I myself always (secretly) wanted to be an actress, but I never knew where to begin, so thank you. You have given me hope!

Hi, I’m John.
You answered a question for me about two weeks ago about how to write my cover letters…I want you to know your advice was helpful. I got called in for a part as an extra in my first movie! It’s not big, but it’s my first one! Thanks for your help!
