Hi Tony!
Most people don’t even take the time to tell a person how to reach their goal. I want to thank you for everything and for responding to my messages. Sometimes I just test people to see if they really care about my career and you do. You can continue to send me some tips on how I can accomplish my goals, because you inspire me a lot. Thank you for caring.

Mime Acting
& Mime Class

MIME ACTING & MIME CLASS

What it is

Mime acting is a style that is seeped in history and tradition and is much like learning the precision and exercises of ballet, tai chi or some other highly physical discipline. Taking a class will give you the opportunity to learn specialized movement skills, physicalization of emotion and dramatic expression as well as stylization techniques and illusion work. The content of what you would learn in a mime class is dependent upon which school you choose to go to or what teacher you choose to train under.

Some popular styles are those belonging to Marcel Marceau, the Decroux technique, Niedzialkowski Technique and Lecoq. They all vary from style to style but generally, a class in mime will introduce you to the fundamentals of the art form, its history and how it relates to today’s theatre.

For whom is it for and what are the benefits?

The commitment to miming and taking mime classes can mean a commitment to lifetime study; such is the complexity and degree of difficulty of this art form. You cannot become a master of mime in 2 years…it takes a lot longer! However, you don’t have to want to become a master of mime to take classes. In fact, taking entry level classes in mime can help an actor greatly in how they use and relate to their body on stage, how they express themselves as a character and how they can outwardly manifest the inner life of a character without even having to speak. So much of what we do in life is conveyed through body language and the way that we react physically to people, emotions and situations, so taking classes in mime will really give you the opportunity to study this and play around with it in a learning environment. All of it will contribute towards making you a more well-rounded, specific and truthful actor.

Mime acting is just one of the many ways to use your acting skills.
