The Sample Acting Resume

Sample Acting Resume

Your acting resume is the written copy of all your relevant acting experience and training that you will give to potential agents, directors and casting directors when you go out on auditions. One of the most important things to remember about your professional acting resume is that it is a reflection of you as a working professional and that it should always be kept up to date with all of your relevant information.

Here are some other things to keep in mind when putting your resume together. Read them and then refer to the sample acting resume below:

When you go to an audition it is a good idea to neatly staple (never glue!) your headshot to the back of your resume. You should also neatly print your name and your contact phone number on the back of your headshot in case the photo and your resume get accidentally separated from one another. Your photo and your resume should both be cut to the same size (usually 8x10) before they are stapled together.
Try and keep your resume to one page. You may have to edit your information so that you only include the better roles that you have played. Don’t try and fit it all on one page by using a tiny font either, it will be too hard to read.
Don’t go over board with using too many different types of fonts. Keep it simple.
Never lie about your experience or special skills!

The sample acting resume: There are different formats, but rather than list them all, here is one below that is rather universal. Your professional acting resume really should reflect your own personal style in terms of font and layout, so keep that in mind whilst always remembering that if nothing else your resume must be accurate, clear and easy to read.

The absolute best resource in my opinion for starting an acting career is Brian O'Neil's book Acting As A Business: Strategies For Success. It gives different sample acting resume formats depending on whether you want to work in NY or LA for example.
